GoBright acquires 12CU, delivering complete occupancy measurement for the modern workplace

Partnerships & Network updates

Alblasserdam, May 2026: GoBright has acquired 12CU, a specialist in WiFi-based occupancy measurement. The acquisition strengthens GoBright’s occupancy measurement solutions by enabling workplace occupancy to be measured using the existing WiFi infrastructure, either on its own or in combination with the already available occupancy sensors. The new solution also includes AI-driven reporting on occupancy trends based on anonymously gathered data. This solution requires no additional hardware, has a much shorter implementation time, and is able to provide insights within a week after implementation.

Stategic expansion of the GoBright platform

12CU SmartSpaces has developed technology that uses existing WiFi networks within buildings to provide insights into occupancy and movement. Without requiring additional hardware investments, the technology delivers valuable real-time insights into the use of office spaces and buildings. It is a strong addition to GoBright’s existing sensor portfolio and aligns seamlessly with the company’s vision of smart, scalable, and data-driven work environments.

“The acquisition of 12CU strengthens a key area of our occupancy measurement offering where we identified clear potential for growth. With WiFi-based occupancy insights that require no additional hardware investment, we can now provide our clients with a complete picture: enabling faster, more cost-effective decision-making around their real estate. This represents a strong and compelling proposition.” Chris Wiegeraad, CCO of GoBright

“Joining GoBright is a natural and exciting next step for 12CU. What we have built with our WiFi-based occupancy insights already helps organisations better understand how their buildings are used. By combining this with GoBright’s expertise in room booking, sensor-based occupancy measurement and workspace analytics, we can now offer a truly complete approach to optimising workspace usage.” Eric Vermaat, Founder of 12CU SmartSpaces

ACCELERATING INNOVATION AND TIME-TO-MARKET

The acquisition allows GoBright to accelerate innovation with technology that is not widely available in the market. With the addition of 12CU SmartSpaces, GoBright can respond more quickly to customer needs related to space utilization, decision-making, and sustainability.

The combined use of WiFi occupancy measurement, occupancy sensors (CO₂, temperature and humidity monitoring), and room booking systems provides end users with a comprehensive dataset on what is happening within buildings. WiFi solutions provide rapid insight into entire buildings and usage patterns, while sensors deliver highly detailed and accurate data at specific locations. For end users, this results in immediate impact: better utilisation of real estate, lower operational costs, an optimised workplace experience, and a demonstrably reduced CO₂ footprint.

Integration and collaboration

In the short term, 12CU SmartSpaces will continue to operate independently within GoBright. Over time, the technology will be gradually integrated into the GoBright platform. Joint technical and commercial teams will work closely together to ensure a smooth integration, a strong market introduction, and maximum value for customers.

About GoBright

GoBright is a leader in smart office technology, specialising in Room and Desk Booking, Visitor Management, Digital Signage, and Workplace Analytics. Their solutions are designed to make workplaces more efficient, flexible and employee-focused; empowering organisations to embrace hybrid working and make data-driven decisions about office space and sustainability. For example, office spaces can be redesigned to reduce costs, such as rent, utilities, and maintenance.

About 12CU SmartSpaces

12CU SmartSpaces is a specialised software company with one clear mission: transform occupancy patterns into actionable insights that help organisations use their buildings better.

Founded in 2016, they have spent nearly a decade uncovering utilisation insight from WiFi network data. Started from a real observation: buildings — and specific spaces within them — are consistently underused, and the decisions made about them are rarely based on evidence.

Over time, 12CU SmartSpaces have integrated advanced AI into their analysis processes, enabling trend detection, automated reporting, and deeper insights than simple headcount data allows.
