bGrid Sensor Data - Integration Guide
bGrid provides smart sensors that monitor workplace metrics such as occupancy, temperature, humidity, and movement within smart building environments. Combined with GoBright workplace software, this data is transformed into actionable insights through advanced dashboards, helping organisations optimise space usage, improve operations, and support ROI-driven decisions.
bGrid is a trusted smart building technology provider, delivering solutions that enhance workplace comfort, efficiency, and sustainability. Its team supports clients through the full project lifecycle, from consultation and design to installation and ongoing support, ensuring maximum value from smart building investments. You can read more about this partnership here.
Further in this article you can find explanation how to integrate bGrid sensor data into the GoBright platform. With this integration, you can use bGrid occupancy sensors to detect whole-room or partial-room usage and link this data to GoBright resources.
The subscription must be created manually by the bGrid team, as it is not set up automatically. To initiate the process, you need to contact bGrid support at [email protected] and provide the integration details generated in the GoBright portal.
As part of the configuration, the endpoint URL and the required authentication header(s) must be specified. This information ensures that the data exchange between the systems is set up correctly and securely.
Before the subscription can be activated, your consent is required. You must explicitly approve the sharing of your data with GoBright, as the integration will only be enabled once this authorization has been granted.
bGrid currently provides three event types:
- Whole room occupancy = Area in bGrid
- Part of room occupancy = Location in bGrid
- Indoor environment (not supported yet)
Connect bGrid sensor data into GoBright in three steps
- Set up the integration in the GoBright Portal.
- Send a subscription registration request to bGrid.
- Couple a room or part of a room to a bGrid sensor in the GoBright Portal.
Step 1: Set up the Integration in the GoBright Portal
- In the GoBright Portal, at the right top (1), navigate to the Admin center (2).
- Select Integrations (3) and press Add (4).
- Enter a name for the integration (5).
- In the External System dropdown, choose Sensoring bGrid (6).
- Press Generate Credentials (7).
- The system generates a WebHook URL, Header Name, and Token.
-
Copy these credentials to a safe location or keep the window open for the next step.
- Press Save (8).
Step 2: Subscription Registration Request to bGrid
- Create an email to [email protected].
- Give bGrid your explicit approval to share your bGrid sensor data with GoBright
- Provide the credentials generated in Step 1:
- WebHook URL
- Header Name
- Token
bGrid will then manually create the subscription and activate it once your consent is confirmed.
Step 3: Couple a Room or Part of a Room to a bGrid Sensor
- In the GoBright Portal, at the right top (1), navigate to Meet-Work-Visit (2).
- Navigate to Settings (3) – Devices (4).
- Navigate to Sensors (5) and press Add (6).
- Select the room (7) you want to couple with the sensor to.
- Under Type (8), choose bGrid sensor.
- In the Integration dropdown, select the bGrid integration (9) you created earlier.
- Area ID is to commission one GoBright resource to all sensors of that bGrid Area.
- Location ID is to commission one individual bGrid sensor to a GoBright resource.
- See next steps where to find these ID’s and how they work. Once filled (10) you can press Save (11).
- Open your my.bgrid.cloud portal and right click on an empty spot in the Area and click on More info (12).
- On the right hand side you now find the details of this Area.
- For whole room occupancy detection (reacting on every sensor in the Area) use the number next to “ID”(13). In this example the Area ID number 120 is filled in the GoBright Portal Sensor Area ID / Location ID field.
- Result: Every sensor in this Area will trigger occupancy for this GoBright room.
- For partial room occupancy detection, assign an individual sensor (=location in bGrid) to a resource in the GoBright Portal.
- In this scenario hover over the location sensor and use location ID number shown without the pre-fixed “L”(14). In this example 98 is filled in the GoBright Portal Sensor Area ID / Location ID field.
- Result: Only this sensor will trigger occupancy for this GoBright resource.
Enjoy seamless room occupancy detection powered by bGrid sensors in your GoBright environment.
