GoBright WiFi Occupancy measurement
Occupancy measurement using your existing WiFi infrastructure; no new hardware required.
- Understand how every floor and building is actually used; in real time;
- No additional hardware; connect to the WiFi infrastructure you already have;
- AI-generated trend reports available within the first week of implementation.
What is WiFi occupancy measurement?
GoBright WiFi Occupancy is a software solution that uses a building’s existing WiFi network to measure how every floor and building is actually being used; in real time, without any additional hardware.
The platform detects the presence of WiFi-enabled devices such as smartphones and laptops across a building, and translates that signal into continuous, anonymised occupancy data. That data feeds directly into AI-generated reports that surface usage patterns, peak moments, underutilised areas, and how different teams move through the building; automatically, with no manual analysis required.
Implementation takes approximately one week. Within that first week, enough data is collected to generate an initial AI trend report. All data is anonymised at source, making the solution fully GDPR compliant by design.
What are the advantages of WiFi occupancy measurement?
WiFi-based occupancy measurement gives organisations objective, real-time insight into how their buildings perform. The practical outcomes span four areas:
Optimising the workplace
WiFi Occupancy reveals which floors, zones, and areas are consistently underused; and which are under pressure. With this data, organisations can redesign floor layouts based on how people actually move and work, rather than on assumptions. In many cases, data reveals that entire floors or wings are rarely occupied, creating the opportunity to consolidate or repurpose space.
Reducing real estate and operational costs
Accurate occupancy data makes it possible to right-size a real estate portfolio with confidence. Organisations can identify which space they genuinely need and which can be consolidated, released, or renegotiated. Beyond real estate, aligning cleaning, maintenance, and energy use to actual occupancy; rather than fixed schedules; reduces operational costs measurably.
Supporting sustainability targets
Empty floors running full HVAC and lighting represent a significant hidden CO₂ cost. WiFi occupancy data makes those costs visible and actionable. By aligning energy, cleaning, and facilities to actual usage, organisations can demonstrate measurable progress on environmental targets.
Improving the employee experience
Real-time visibility into space availability removes the frustration of overcrowded areas and hard-to-find workspaces. Over time, occupancy data enables organisations to design environments that genuinely reflect how their people work; supporting hybrid working with evidence, not assumption.
Practical occupancy pilot
One of the most practical applications is the occupancy pilot. Organisations planning an office move, a building redesign, or a decision to scale their real estate footprint can use the platform to gather solid utilisation evidence before committing.
Because no hardware is needed, a pilot can be up and running within one week. The data gathered gives real estate and facilities teams the confidence to make major decisions based on reality, not estimates.
Complete occupancy insight: WiFi and sensors, working together
GoBright WiFi Occupancy is part of GoBright’s broader occupancy solution. For organisations that need granular, location-level accuracy, it works alongside GoBright’s sensor technology to deliver a complete picture of how buildings are used — from building-wide patterns down to individual desks and rooms.
WiFi delivers building-wide insight: fast, cost-effective, and hardware-free. Sensors deliver precise, location-level data at the desk and room level. Together, they give organisations complete visibility — from whole-building patterns down to individual workspaces.
WiFi analytics give you the broad picture, fast. Which floors are busy? Which buildings are consistently under capacity? How does usage shift across the week or season? Sensors then add the granular layer: which specific desks are occupied, which meeting rooms run over their bookings, and where usage differs from booking data.
GoBright’s complete occupancy solution brings together WiFi-based occupancy data, sensor data, and room and desk booking data to give organisations the most complete picture of workplace usage available in the market. Based on the type of insights you need, our Smart Workplace Experts will advise the right combination for your organisation.
Privacy and compliance
The platform is GDPR-compliant by design. All device data is anonymised at source — no personal data is collected, stored, or reported. GoBright is ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certified.
