BrightSign XT1145 – Installing the GoBright App
Generic Information
Firmware version 9.0.x and 9.1.x
How to factory reset the device:
- Disconnect the player from power;
- IMPORTANT: Remove the player’s storage device (e.g., microSD card, USB drive, or SSD). If the storage device is not removed, the player may improperly run the setup process before the reset can occur;
- Press and hold both SVC and Reset buttons;
- Connect power to the player;
- Wait until the red Err LED starts blinking rapidly;
- Release the SVC and Reset buttons (the Err LED will stop blinking);
- The player will perform the factory reset. The player will eventually reboot and display the BrightSign logo on the screen along with the player’s system info (serial number, MAC address, OS version).
From here, you can reconnect the desired storage device (e.g., microSD card) to continue setting up the player.
This option requires that the player have OS version 6.2.39 or later. If you do not know the player’s OS version, use the Factory Reset script option above. This option requires physical access to the player.
Create Account and Setup
- Sign in to BSN.cloud (in the upper right corner of BrightAuthor:connected) using your email address and password or click New User to create an account;
- Select Setup in the Admin tab;
- Enter a Setup Name, Player Name, and Player Description;
- Set your Time Zone. The player should be connected to the internet to set the time correctly, but the time can be set manually as well. See Set Time & Time Zone for more info;
- Select an Idle Screen Color. The default is black but it is helpful to select an alternate color to readily identify when the display is idling as opposed to powered off;
- Select App URL under Publishing Mode, and enter the URL address: https://install.gobright.cloud/view/brightsign/latest;
- Select Add Setup to Library so you can provision online.

You can activate your player automatically or manually. Automatic activation is the most common method, but manual activation can be useful on audio-only players, like the AU335, which do not have a display.
Automatic Player Activation
Shortly after bootup, assuming no provisioning record was found, the player should display the Activation screen shown below:
From this screen, there are several ways to activate the player.
- As shown on the activation screen, you can use a web browser and go to http://bsn.cloud/activate which will launch BrightAuthor:connected and take you to the appropriate screen for device activation. For those who do not wish to use BrightAuthor:connected, one of the below activation methods may be used in conjunction with https://control.bsn.cloud.
- If you are using a smartphone, you can scan the displayed QR code. The QR code contains a link that will take you to the activation web page.
- Alternatively, select Player Activation under the Admin tab in either BrightAuthor:connected or via control.bsn.cloud at which point you will be prompted to enter the code. Once the code has been entered, you will be presented with a message indicating that the player has been activated.
Manual Player Activation
You must know the player serial number to use manual activation. It can be found on the bottom of the player, or on the side of the packaging box.
- Go to Admin > Provision;
- Select Add Player;
- Add the Player Serial Number, Player Name, and Player Description and then Add Player.
Once activated, BSN.Cloud will know about the player. However, the player will first need to apply its Setup (as specified by its provisioning record) in order to establish the proper connections to BSN.Cloud. After the Setup has been applied, the player will be listed under the Network tab, assuming that there are no networking obstructions. From here, access to many player settings is available.
Provision Player with correct Setup
If not already added: Add Player
- Go to Admin > Provision;
- Select Add Player to add a player to the Provisioning list. You will be prompted to enter the following information:
- Serial Number: The serial number of the player;
- Player Name and Player Description: An optional name and description for the player. If these are not specified, the values in the Setup will be used.
Player Already Registered
If you enter a serial number of a player that has already been provisioned, you will get an error.
If the player was brand new when obtained, then you or someone in your organization likely already provisioned the player and you should be able to find the player in the Player Provisioning list.
However, if the player was previously owned and provisioned, the previous owner / administrator must delete the player’s provisioning record from their BSN.Cloud network before you can provision the player for your BSN.Cloud network.
Apply Setup
From Admin > Provision:
- Select the checkbox next to the player(s) you want to provision;
- Select Apply Setup:
- If the players have not been previously provisioned, they will download the appropriate Setup from the BSN.cloud servers when they boot up;
- If the players have had a Setup previously applied, the new Setup will take effect only when that player has been explicitly reprovisioned.
It is important to note that Apply Setup strictly establishes what should be applied to the player when the player is reprovisioned. If a previously provisioned player reboots or even if it is factory reset, it will not adopt the new Setup until the player has been explicitly reprovisioned. Reprovisioning is covered below.
The Apply App URL option lets you assign an application, via a player-accessible URL, to selected players in the list. Upon boot up, the players will download the application package from the specified App URL and set up the player for that application.
You can also Delete Player(s) from the Provisioning list. If you delete a player’s provisioning record, it will be disassociated from its BSN.Cloud network and will no longer automatically retrieve a Setup package from BSN.Cloud. When a player is booted up without an associated provisioning record, it will display an activation code, which you can use to create a provisioning record for the player. Other methods of provisioning the player are the BrightAuthor:connected Provision tab or the B-Deploy API.

When a new Setup is applied to a player, the new Setup does not automatically go into effect on the player. After applying the Setup, the player must be explicitly reprovisioned (after which the player will reboot) in order for the new Setup to be active on the player.
Find the player in the Network tab and select the settings (gear) icon:
From there, navigate to the Control tab, Reprovision Player. Note the actions that will occur and select Reprovision.
There may be a message asking to confirm that there is indeed a Setup that has been applied to the player. If a Setup has not been first applied to the player, the player will connect to BSN.cloud to download and apply the Default Setup.
