Switching to Microsoft Graph API integration
Microsoft has announced the deprecation of Exchange Web Services (EWS), starting from October 1st, 2026. The recommended replacement is Microsoft Graph.
This option is still in Early Access, get access by requesting access via a request for this option to be enabled.
Switching to Microsoft Graph API integration from an existing O365 Integration is simple and straightforward with only a few steps needed to be made.
When logged into the GoBright portal with an admin account, you can press the Four Squares on the top right corner and Select the Admin Center.
Go to Integrations and select the existing integration.
You will see the following screen if the Microsoft Graph API is enabled for your environment:
After clicking on the “Using Microsoft Graph API (beta)” button, a popup message will appear asking to save the changes and with that the Microsoft Graph API integration will be enabled.
You should see the following screen with the Microsoft Graph API box checked.
After enabling Microsoft Graph API, the Calendar link will become red and unlinked. At this step, relinking of the Calendar is required.
For this you need to use a Global Admin Account of Azure/Entra ID.
When Signed In, another prompt will be triggered that will Request Permissions.
When accepted, a new GoBright Calendar Graph Enterprise Application will be created and GoBright can communicate with the Room Calendars.
After linking the Calendar and everything is green and linked, you can save the integration by clicking on the blue Save button on the top right corner.
Important Note
If you currently have an application restriction policy in place of the previous integration, please be aware of the following:
- The restriction policy was originally applied to the Calendar Application Mode Enterprise app in Entra ID/Azure.
- When moving to the new Graph integration, a new GoBright Calendar Graph application is created with a new app ID.
- As a result, the existing restriction policy will not apply to the new application.
To ensure proper functionality, you will need to:
- Create a new restriction policy for the GoBright Calendar Graph application (Step 4 in this article)
- Remove the old restriction policy associated with the previous application (Step 4 in this article).
