Visit Badge Configurations
Visitor badges help you easily identify visitors while they are in the building. They also provide a convenient way for visitors to sign out by scanning the QR code on their badge. Visitors can even reuse their badge for future visits and check in at the kiosk by scanning the same QR code.
You can design your visitor badges within the visitor registration configuration. For each visitor type, you can select which badge should be printed.
Visitor badges are always configured as part of a visitor registration configuration. For more general information about this configuration, please refer to the Visitor Registration Configuration article.
Preparations
Before you can print visitor badges, you need to set up a badge printer. For more information, please refer to the Setting up badge printing article.
The printer and the printing supplies you use determine the available print sizes. It is important to understand the supported dimensions and printing capabilities of your equipment to ensure the badges print correctly.
Using incorrect printer settings, such as the wrong badge size, may cause printer errors or result in incorrectly positioned or distorted prints.
If your badges share a standard design element, such as a company logo, you can upload a background image to use as a template. For a credit card-sized badge measuring 85.7 mm × 53.9 mm, we recommend using a JPG image with dimensions of 857 × 539 pixels.
Please note that the badge printing functionality supports single-sided printing only.
Configuring visitor badges
Log in to the GoBright portal using your manager account and navigate to Settings > Visit > Configurations.
Select the configuration you want to edit, then choose Badge from the left-hand sidebar.
To configure an existing badge, select it from the list. To create a new badge, click + Add in the left-hand sidebar.
Configuring a visitor badge
General configuration
Each badge has a name that you can use to identify and select it in the visitor type configuration.
Size
The badge size determines the dimensions of the design and the size used for printing. It is important to configure the size accurately, down to the millimeter, to ensure the badge prints correctly. Incorrect dimensions may prevent the printer from printing the badge.
By default, the badge size is set to Credit Card Landscape (85.7 × 53.9 mm).
Some printers, such as the Brother QL-820NWB, support custom-length paper tape. For these printers, you can create a badge with custom dimensions by selecting Size > Custom from the drop-down menu and entering the desired width and height.
Background image
The Background image setting allows you to upload an image to use as the badge background. For example, you can add your company logo to the background so that it is printed on every badge.
For a credit card-sized badge measuring 85.7 × 53.9 mm, we recommend using a JPG or PNG image with dimensions of 857 × 539 pixels to ensure the background fits the badge correctly.
Badge fields
You can add fields to display content at specific positions on the badge.
For each field, you can configure its position, size, and type.
The following badge field types are available:
- Type
- Photo: the photo of the visitor
- QR code: a QR code, which can be used for sign out, and for fast sign in when returning.
- Text
- Text type
- ‘Type’: The name of the visitor type
- ‘Field’: One of the fields the visitor filled
- ‘Host’: The name of the host the visitor chooses
- ‘Location’: The location where the visitor registered
- ‘Static’: A static custom text
- ‘Current date’: The date of printing of the badge
- ‘Current date & time’: The date and time of printing of the badge
The available data fields depend on the selected field type.
