The Association of Dutch Municipalities (Vereniging van Nederlandse Gemeenten, VNG) is the umbrella organisation for all municipalities in the Netherlands. Municipalities and their suppliers aim to make it easier to establish clear and realistic agreements regarding the processing of personal data. Therefore, municipalities, suppliers, and the VNG together have developed a standard Data Processing Agreement. Dutch municipalities are required to use this document when they start a new cooperation with a supplier that will process personal data, preventing situations where municipalities and their processors are unable to make additional agreements about data processing. For new processing agreements, this saves valuable time and energy, as there is clarity in advance on how personal data will be processed.
GoBright also has a standard processing agreement, the GoBright Data Processing Agreement (DPA), which is a bit stricter than VNG’s standard processing agreement. GoBright and the VNG have now agreed on a joint appendix to the processing agreement, which has been approved by both parties. This ensures that Dutch municipalities can be confident that GoBright’s DPA meets all of VNG’s requirements, making it much easier for many municipalities to adopt GoBright Smart Workplace solutions.
Data Processing at GoBright
At GoBright, the security of personal data is a top priority. In addition to VNG’s requirements, all GoBright solutions and products comply with other key frameworks, such as the Dutch AVG law and European GDPR regulations. GoBright also holds ISO 9001 & 27001 certifications. Chris Wiegeraad, Commercial Director at GoBright, says: “It is just as important to us as to the user that our clients’ personal data is processed securely. Several municipalities have already taken the step towards GoBright Smart Workplace Solutions. With this collaboration with VNG, we hope to make it even easier for other municipalities to innovate their offices.”
